Montasio DOP is a cow’s milk cheese which is produced Friuli-Venezia Giulia Region of Italy bordering Slovenia on the East and Austria to the north. Montasio’s origins date back to the 1200's when it was originally produced by Benedictine monks. Our Montasio is at least two months old and has a mild flavor with a creamy consistency. It has a delicate, somewhat fruity flavor with just a hint of nuts. Montasio cheese is an excellent place to get started into the world of Italian Specialty Cheeses. Montasio cheese goes well with any of the wines from the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region. Pair it with a Pinot Grigio, a Merlot or Sauvignon Blanc. Pecorino Siciliano DOP (Picurinu Sicilianu in Sicilian dialect)… has the traditional cylindrical shape, flat or slightly hollow. Since an Artisanal product their weight varies between 4 and 12 kg, the sides are about 10-18 cm high. The rind is yellowish-white. The surface is very wrinkled due the basket modeling. The dough is compact, white or pale yellow, with little holes. Pecorino Siciliano has a sharp, spicy taste and the lovely fragrance ! The flavor is distinctive and the aroma is intense !
